Free cpu-basic quota is 0 on new account

Hugging Face now requires a paid plan to create any new Space that runs on compute, including Gradio and Docker Spaces, after users on brand-new accounts reported the free cpu-basic quota is effectively 0. An HF staff member confirmed in a support thread that running a Space on cpu-basic requires PRO, even though the docs still list CPU Basic as free with 8 concurrent CPU units, and pointed users to upgrade to PRO, add credits, or switch to the still-free Static SDK. The same "You've reached your cpu-basic quota limit" error has appeared since June/July on new accounts with a single paused Space, including those of users PhoeSai99, ibbo2121 and maelanoi.

Hi, my account Yashsalidev email verified can’t start any free Space. Restarting Yashsalidev/chest-xray-ai fails with “You’ve reached your cpu-basic quota limit” even though it’s my only Space and it’s paused. Could you enable the free CPU tier? Your options: subscribe to PRO, or switch the Space to the Static SDK, which is still free works if the model can run client-side, e.g. Transformers.js .
