{"slug": "folderblog-0-2-7-your-blog-can-be-a-podcast-now", "title": "folderblog 0.2.7: Your blog can be a podcast now", "summary": "Ninepoint Labs released folderblog 0.2.7, adding podcast publishing to the Markdown-to-blog tool: episodes placed in a podcast/ folder generate show and episode pages plus a Podcasting 2.0-compatible feed.xml, with audio uploaded to Cloudflare R2 at deploy time so the feed never points at a missing file. The release also introduces an MCP server (folderblog mcp) that lets an AI agent draft, check and publish episodes only after user approval, and fixes draft: true so drafts are excluded from real builds. New blogs ship with a templates/ folder documenting every front matter field, and the service auto-adds missing sample files on first start after an upgrade.", "body_md": "[folderblog](https://github.com/ninepointlabs/folderblog) turns a folder of Markdown into a live blog the moment you save. Four releases since the last word here, 0.2.4 through 0.2.7, and the big one is 0.2.6: the same folder can now publish a podcast, with a proper feed, hosted audio, and a way for an AI agent to help without ever publishing on its own.\n\nPut episodes in `podcast/`, one folder per episode, each with its MP3 (or an MP4 if it's a video show). folderblog builds the show page, a page for every episode, and `/podcast/feed.xml`. Turn it on with:\n\n```\nfolderblog podcast on\n```\n\nThe feed is ready for Apple Podcasts and Podcasting 2.0: every episode gets a permanent guid, and you can add transcripts, chapters, people, and optional Lightning tips. Episodes stay out of your main blog feed unless you set `in_main_feed`, so readers who only want posts don't get audio in their reader.\n\nAudio files are too big to live comfortably next to your HTML, so folderblog uploads them to Cloudflare R2 when the site deploys. The site isn't published until the upload succeeds, which means the feed never points at a file that isn't there yet. `folderblog podcast setup` walks you through it. It works with an r2.dev address or your own domain, and a custom domain is recommended. Your keys are kept outside the blog folder, so they never end up in git or on the site.\n\n`folderblog mcp` starts an MCP server, so an AI agent can draft, check and publish episodes for you. It only publishes after you say yes. If you'd rather do it yourself, `folderblog podcast publish --episode SLUG` does the same thing from the terminal. The watcher and a publish take turns, so they never build or deploy at the same time.\n\nNew blogs now come with a `templates/` folder holding a sample post and a sample podcast episode. Each one lists every front matter field with a short note on what it does, so you don't have to dig through the guide to remember what `draft` or `image` does. To add the folder to a blog you already have, run `folderblog templates`.\n\n0.2.7 is the small one that makes the rest easier. After you install a new version, restart the service:\n\n```\nsystemctl --user restart folderblog\n```\n\nThe first time it starts, it adds any sample files your blogs don't have yet, like the new `templates/` folder, and refreshes the generated part of `AGENTS.md`. It logs what it changed. It never turns a feature on, and it never touches your design, `blog.toml` or your posts. A sample file you delete stays deleted.\n\n`draft: true` in front matter now really hides a post or page from the live site, as the guide always said. Before, those were still built and listed. They now behave like files in `drafts/`: visible in `folderblog preview` and `build --drafts`, never in real builds.\n| System | Command | \n|---|---|\n| Arch / Omarchy | `sudo pacman -U folderblog-bin-0.2.7-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst` | \n| Debian / Ubuntu | `sudo apt install ./folderblog_0.2.7-1_amd64.deb` | \n| Fedora / RHEL / openSUSE | `sudo dnf install ./folderblog-0.2.7-1.x86_64.rpm` | \n| autonomix-cli | `autonomix-cli add https://github.com/ninepointlabs/folderblog` | \n\nThe packages and a plain tarball are on the [v0.2.7 release](https://github.com/ninepointlabs/folderblog/releases/tag/v0.2.7).
