The UK-founded neocloud provider is converting former crypto mining sites into AI data centers, backed by serious institutional capital

Fluidstack confirmed it raised $830 million in a Series A funding round at a $7.5 billion valuation, providing the AI infrastructure startup with fresh capital to accelerate its global data center expansion.

The round closed in January and was led by Situational Awareness, the AI focused investment firm founded by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner. Fluidstack did not identify the other participating investors, describing them only as leading global backers.

Fluidstack said the funding would support its goal of becoming the fastest company to deploy hundreds of gigawatts of computing capacity for frontier AI developers. The company acquires power, designs and constructs data centers, and operates the computing infrastructure used by AI labs.

The company claims its technology can deliver gigawatts of capacity within six months, compared with the 18 to 24 months typically required by the industry. Its website lists Anthropic, Meta, Nvidia, AMI and Cognition among the companies connected to its infrastructure platform.

Fluidstack’s largest announced project is its partnership with Anthropic, which selected the company to help build $50 billion of computing infrastructure across the United States.

The initial facilities are being developed in Texas and New York, with additional locations planned. Anthropic expects the sites to begin coming online throughout 2026 and projects that the program will create around 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs.

The agreement positioned Fluidstack as a major challenger in the growing market for specialized AI cloud infrastructure. Unlike general cloud providers, the company focuses on facilities designed specifically for the intensive power, networking and hardware demands of AI model training and inference.

Reports in April said Fluidstack was also discussing a separate $1 billion funding round that could value the company at approximately $18 billion. Jane Street was reportedly considering leading that financing, potentially alongside Situational Awareness. Fluidstack has not announced that transaction.

The company framed its infrastructure expansion as part of a broader race to determine which institutions control the computing resources needed to develop advanced AI systems. Fluidstack said it plans to hire hundreds of employees across software, hardware, power, design and data center operations as it expands.
