Flexential upgraded its private network backbone to 400 gigiabits per second (Gb/s) across various major U.S. metro markets.

The upgrade spans 15 existing Flexential data centers in Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, and Oregon. Flexential framed the expansion as meeting growing demand in AI training and inference, mirroring network expansions [from the likes of Lumen](https://www.sdxcentral.com/news/lumen-expands-northern-us-reach-with-new-route/). It added customers will leap from legacy 10 GB/s capacity to 100 Gb/s on a single port, including burstable options to increase capacity as and when needed.

In addition, customers of its Flexential Fabric interconnect service can "provision additional capacity in less than 90 minutes without traditional order tickets or extended deployment cycles."

According to the announcement, those using hyperscale services can leverage dedicated throughput, thus bypassing more congested public peering points. Flexential also touted connectivity for its FlexAnywhere Platform, which [recently saw integration of its Interconnection Mesh](https://www.sdxcentral.com/news/flexential-integration-aims-to-simplify-network-infrastructure-management/) with network fabric offering, Flexential Fabric, as well [as Lumen's network-as-a-service (NaaS) platform](https://www.flexential.com/resources/press-release/flexential-and-lumen-expand-network-service-capabilities-businesses).

The network upgrade was delivered through the fabric service, which will see unspecified new services, streamlined IP migration capabilities, and additional features with the expansion.

The firm added additional markets will receive the 400 Gb/s upgrade early next year. Its portfolio also includes locations in Charlotte, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, Louisville, Minneapolis, Nashville, Phoenix, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, and Tampa.

It also has facilities under construction in Parker and Colorado.

Flexential's Atlanta footprint will see expansion with its fifth data center to date in the region, [due to go live in 2028](https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/flexential-to-expand-footprint-with-new-data-center-in-atlanta-georgia/), while a sixth Hillsboro data center is currently [under construction in Oregon,](https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/flexential-to-build-sixth-hillsboro-data-center-in-oregon/) joining its Portland facilities in the state.
