First it was the Pope. Now it is the King. King Charles is intervening in the AI debate by hosting a historic summit in Scotland with representatives from the leading AI companies, Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepMind/Google, and NVIDIA. This meeting follows a tumultuous week of doomsday fears from AI sparked by Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon, who quit the company to call awareness to the growing existential risk posed by more powerful AI models.
According to the New York Times, OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar will attend. The Times of India reports: “Buckingham Palace said the discussions would focus on how AI could be used to benefit society while protecting human dignity and contributing to the ‘flourishing of both people and the planet.’”
The meeting will take place at Dumfries House, Scotland.
