On the same day Stripe dropped a reported $7.5 billion on OpenRouter, another fintech company, Ramp, also made its play for the AI model switching market and launched router.com.
The finance and expenses management platform, valued at $44 billion, publicly released the tool for quickly picking AI models and switching between them on Wednesday, after building it internally for three years.
Head of Applied AI Veeral Patel said: “Every week, the price-intelligence-latency frontier shifts, and we expect this trend to continue… Router sends every request to the model that's actually best for the task and helps you control what tokens you buy.”
The tool was first teased last month, but the API key is now available through router.com. Routing will be free for the rest of 2026, but Ramp is yet to provide a cost structure for the service following this offer.
