Cross-functional AI governance
Business Insider reported that Diasio described AI investment as a cross-functional issue spanning IT, finance, sales, HR, and operations. He said departmental budgeting can lead organizations to address use cases within separate functions while leaving broader opportunities unrealized.
According to Diasio, EY-Parthenon research found that 75% of potential enterprise value from AI comes from horizontal value streams that span functions, compared with 25% from projects contained within individual functions. He told Business Insider that the office will assess AI initiatives beyond a simple dollar-for-dollar calculation and focus on whether they are delivering material value.
"It will help make sure that funding flows where the biggest opportunities are," Diasio told Business Insider.
A measurement problem, not only a deployment problem
