# Evaluated MiMo-V2.6 for Code Rewriting

I have a fair amount of **Rust code** that needs **rewriting**. In the past I had an obsession with lookup tables, and some of these are no longer needed; the code should just `match` on values directly. I decided to test **MiMo-V2.6 Flash**, an LLM from Xiaomi, on this task.

MiMo-V2.6 Flash is a **scaled-down** version of the "Pro" model, which seems to be ranked close to the frontier models like Claude Opus and GPT-6-Sol. I sent the **prompt** in through OpenRouter and got my result in 17 seconds. The total cost was one-twentieth of one cent ($0.0005).

I liked how MiMo provided **explanatory comments** in the Rust code. I tend to like code comments more than code itself—and the translation notes, inline in the code, were appreciated. The code worked and saved me about **512 bytes** of bloat from the binary. No performance gains could be measured, but it is **shorter and simpler**—and it only cost a tiny fraction of a cent, so it seems like a decent outcome.
