EU begins enforcing AI Act, putting AI models under the microscope

On 2 August 2026, the European Commission's AI Office and national authorities began enforcing the AI Act, introducing transparency rules that require AI systems to disclose when users interact with AI and when content is AI-generated or altered. Chatbots must identify as automated, and deepfakes must be labeled.
