This summer I found some time to dust off some of my own git repos — the ones with interesting explorations and other things that might be worth sharing. We are talking about many years of work as a developer and team lead dusted off, so I will probably be publishing quite frequently now, time allowing.
I started it partially thanks to LLMs becoming more trustworthy and capable, which made the dusting off a lot cheaper. So you will find old repos of mine with a bunch of recent commits made by LLMs. reactive-signals is a good example: my commits from 2023, three years of silence, then a fresh layer of dependency bumps and clippy fixes from this summer.
Sounds like AI slop? Well, it certainly is AI-assisted. Slop? I did check the code, and to me it's not sloppy.
What I did re-discover is my passion for technology and for exploring solutions. With AI I can explore a new solution in a very short amount of time. That is great!
Another thing I started doing is using AI to fill in my knowledge gaps in areas I'm interested in. As an example, I have always had some bits missing in my understanding of Rust async. If I find the time for it, I'll do some very AI-driven explainers that explain it from my way of seeing things.
