Colossus 2, located in Southaven, Mississippi, features 27 gas turbines capable of generating up to 495 megawatts. Similar projects are cropping up across the country. Texas has the GW Ranch project. Virginia has Vantage. Together, at least 11 gas-fired projects linked to data centers could produce more than 129 million tons of annual greenhouse gas emissions.\n\nUnlike traditional emergency diesel generators, these setups operate continuously and have raised significant environmental concerns, especially in communities already grappling with air quality challenges.
