The president recently shared a post on Truth Social, where he spoke to his followers and the nation about AI. In the post, Donald Trump dismissed calls for stronger AI safeguards while taking aim at Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
Trump wrote, “The only control or “guardrails” that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!”
“The Trump Administration has stopped AI “people” from doing bad, or potentially bad, “things,” like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a “perfect little angel” – and we will continue to do so!” He added.
The president went on to say that they already have tremendous criminal and regulatory power over these companies. Donald Trump also pointed to the ongoing controversies surrounding AI and data centers, saying that China is the happiest about all of this. At the same time, he claimed that the U.S. is leading China and everyone else. At the same time, president of the USA ended the post by warning everyone to remain aware.
For context, Donald Trump’s jab at Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei came just as the CEOs of major AI companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI called for the industry to slow down its development over the weekend because of safety concerns. Trump’s jab marks his first public criticism of the CEO. Before this, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei had also met with White House officials, and Anthropic had praised Trump’s AI executive order.
