The forum response indicates that the Ryzen AI 300 series currently only supports full GPU passthrough and does not yet support vGPU splitting.", "body_md": "[exee](https://forum.level1techs.com/u/exee)\n1\nFinally need to upgrade my venerable Ryzen 5800H laptop. My current setup includes VFIO passthrough of the discrete GPU to a a windows VM for productivity work. Host is usaally a cachyos or manjaro host. Things work great except with the upgrade to W11 in the VM things are slowing down. Has anybody experimented with the new AI+ max 392 chips and vfio? I would prefer to also have access to the linux host while the windows VM is up so splitting the GPU would be ideal. Otherwise I can get a 9955HX with discrete GPU and do things that way.\n\nCurrently, the Ryzen AI 300 series only supports full GPU passthrough and does not yet support vGPU splitting.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/does-ryzen-mobil-ai-392-work-for-vfio-allow-vgpu-or-similar", "canonical_source": "https://forum.level1techs.com/t/does-ryzen-mobil-ai-392-work-for-vfio-allow-vgpu-or-similar/253877#post_2", "published_at": "2026-08-18 11:29:38+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-08-18 11:41:55.909326+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["ai-chips"], "entities": ["AMD", "Ryzen AI Max 392", "Ryzen AI 300", "Level1Techs", "VFIO"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/does-ryzen-mobil-ai-392-work-for-vfio-allow-vgpu-or-similar", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/does-ryzen-mobil-ai-392-work-for-vfio-allow-vgpu-or-similar.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/does-ryzen-mobil-ai-392-work-for-vfio-allow-vgpu-or-similar.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/does-ryzen-mobil-ai-392-work-for-vfio-allow-vgpu-or-similar.jsonld"}}
