Nvidia first told us that DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction was “coming this August” during Computex a few months back. Today, August 25, the neural rendering feature has finally been released, launching with support for 30 games and compatible with all GeForce RTX graphics cards – from RTX 20 to the current RTX 50 series, headlined by the flagship RTX 5090.

Ray Reconstruction brings improved visual fidelity to ray-traced and path-traced scenes by using neural rendering (and Nvidia’s supercomputer-trained AI network) to generate higher-quality pixels, overall doing a better job than previous hand-tuned denoisers. With the new DLSS 4.5 version, Nvidia has upgraded to its 2nd-gen Transformer model using the ‘Preset F’ option.

What games are compatible with DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction? #

Compatible games include the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and Resident Evil: Requiem, both of which we’ve already been testing with DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction. As per usual with Nvidia, you can expect this list to continue growing in the near future.

DLSS Ray Reconstruction is a neural rendering technique for all GeForce RTX GPUs that improves image quality for ray-traced and path-traced scenes. Replacing traditional hand-tuned denoisers, it uses an NVIDIA supercomputer-trained AI network to generate higher-quality pixels in the noisy parts of a ray traced frame where rays were not sampled. The model unifies denoising and Super Resolution into a single model, intelligently analyzing temporal and spatial engine data to reconstruct sharper, more stable, and higher-fidelity high-resolution images.

Nvidia RTX GPU owners can enable the 2nd-generation model via Nvidia App using overrides (assuming they’ve update to the latest graphics driver). Within the Graphics section on the left sidebar, users can select their compatible game of choice, scroll down to DLSS Override – Model Presets, select Custom, and set Ray Reconstruction to Preset F to enjoy upgraded ray/path tracing.
