Decomp of David Horner's Drain Storm (1997)

A developer recompiled David Horner's 1997 Windows 3.11 game Drain Storm for modern systems using multiple GPT models in a "vibeslopping" decompilation, with the first pass producing a completely non-functional build and the second a somewhat playable game that diverged enough from the original to require a third pass checking every decompiled function for differences. Only the second pass was thoroughly tested, and the author says the tests produced during that pass should cover about everything. The author plans to manually refactor the code for maintainability and modding, with Linux and macOS support a natural next step despite the game's heavy reliance on WinAPI, and asks for help contacting Horner, who holds all rights to the game.

A classic Windows 3.11 game, recompiled using vibeslopping techniques using variety of GPT models in order to make it run on modern systems.

The decomp went through several passes, with first pass resulting with completely non-functional mess, with second pass resulting with somewhat playable game but with so many differencies between the original game it warranted a third pass, with the model asked with going through every single decompiled function to find the differencies between the old code and new one. Admittely only the second pass was thoroughly tested by myself, but I believe the test produced during the second pass should cover about everything.

If the time allows it, I'm probably going to manually refactor the code for more maintainability and modding possibilities. Linux/Macos support would be a natural next step but the game leans a lot into WinApi. All rights reserved to David Horner, the game creator. I am not sure if he's still alive, if there is any way to contact him online it would be very appreciated.
