DBS also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore to co-develop AI training programmes, aiming to train its 40,000 global employees, including 14,800 in Singapore, in foundational AI skills.", "body_md": "# DBS rolls out career advisory service to help employees navigate AI-driven change\n\n‘Bigger prize’ in capturing AI’s value lies in redesigning jobs so workers can do higher-value work, says Tan See Leng\n\n[SINGAPORE] DBS has launched a new in-house career advisory service to support employees in navigating artificial intelligence-led workplace changes.\n\n“The financial sector is at the centre of these shifts, and we must adapt for Singapore to remain a leading financial centre,” said Minister for Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry) Tan See Leng at the DBS Live Fulfilled Festival 2026 on Monday (Aug 24).\n\nHe added that while AI is being used to automate routine tasks, “automation alone only captures a fraction of the value”.\n\n“The bigger prize lies in redesigning the job itself – rethinking roles and upskilling and retraining our workers so they can take on higher-value work requiring creative problem-solving, interpersonal stakeholder management and complex judgment,” said Dr Tan.\n\nDBS announced that it has trained an initial group of more than 100 career advisers from its human resources department, who will take on advising duties in addition to their core responsibilities.\n\nThe new service provides employees with an avenue, beyond DBS’ existing self-service AI-career development tools, to seek counsel amid workplace changes.\n\nIn 2025, DBS launched iCoach, a generative AI-powered coaching platform that provides personalised coaching and career guidance. It also introduced iGrow in 2022, which uses AI and machine-learning to offer employees career recommendations.\n\nThe new career advisory service will be made initially available to DBS’ employees in its six core markets.\n\n## AI capability as a baseline skill\n\nDr Tan noted that AI capability “must become baseline literacy for every worker, just as digital literacy was a generation ago”.\n\nIn line with this, DBS inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF) on Monday to establish three areas of collaboration aimed at benefiting DBS employees and the wider financial services workforce in Singapore.\n\nUnder the MOU, DBS will co-develop industry-relevant programmes with IBF that build future-ready capabilities across the sector. The bank’s 40,000 employees globally, including 14,800 based in Singapore, will be trained in foundational AI skills through programmes accredited by IBF.\n\nExamples of existing IBF-recognised AI programmes include AI governance, responsible AI, prompt engineering and practical AI applications.\n\nAdditionally, both organisations will trial workforce interventions to help employees adapt to roles reshaped by AI. This includes Career Conversion Programmes and industry-aligned pathways.\n\nLastly, DBS and IBF noted that they will collaborate on strengthening Singapore’s pipeline of young talent for the financial sector.
