DataAgent raises $10M to let AI fix production faults inside Kubernetes clusters
Israeli startup DataAgent Ltd. formally launched today with $10 million in pre-seed funding and a platform that repairs production faults inside a customer’s own Kubernetes clusters.
DataAgent plans to spend the money to accelerate customer adoption in North America. Ishay Yaari and Nati Shalom started the company in January as chief executive and chief technology officer. Both formerly worked at open-source cloud orchestration platform company Cloudify Platform Ltd. Dell Technologies Inc. acquired the business in 2023 for a reported $100 million.
Conventional observability tools detect a fault and hand it to an engineer to investigate. That model requires a paid second copy of the customer’s logs and metrics shipped to a vendor’s cloud, and the bill grows along with the system it watches. Grafana Labs Inc. said in its 2025 observability survey that such spending averages 17% of total compute infrastructure spending. The most common answer was 10%.
DataAgent reverses the sequence. Its agents read live system state, topology and configuration drift where the data already sits, work out what caused an incident and apply a fix the customer has pre-approved through guardrails it defines itself. The deeper root-cause analysis runs afterward, offline, after service is restored. The company said that ordering is what shortens mean time to resolution.
The software runs inside cloud-native control planes and sits above whatever monitoring stack a customer already has, rather than replacing it. Data goes outward only when a fault needs deeper inspection. The agent itself is open source and can be run standalone at no cost, with a paid software-as-a-service tier for fleet management and orchestration. DataAgent said that design answers enterprise resistance to running closed software in production.
“In 10 years, no one has ever heard an engineering leader say their organization’s observability costs went down and that is no accident,” Yaari said. “When a vendor’s revenue is your data ingest, it cannot cut your bill without cutting its own.”
Shalom said the industry has spent 15 years “building better ways to watch production and charging more for it every year,” and that adding artificial intelligence copilots to that model has not changed the outcome. He described autonomy as an architectural shift rather than a feature layered onto observability.
The platform earns its independence in stages. During onboarding, a discovery phase shows customers which classes of failure the software can already fix on its own. A timeline covers the rest. Faults the software has not been proven correct on are routed to a human. Approved fixes deploy through a customer’s existing change management process or a single command-line instruction.
MizMaa Ventures Ltd. and Alicorn Venture Partners led the pre-seed round. MizMaa also backed Tenet Security Inc., which launched in June with $6 million in seed funding to police rogue AI agents at runtime. DataAgent said customers who run its platform alongside their existing tools can cut up to 90% of their observability bill.
