Hi all,

I submitted a paper to Daily Papers and attached a **GIF** as media on the paper page. It shows up fine on the paper’s own detail page, but in the **Daily Papers feed/listing view**, the card still shows the auto-generated screenshot of the PDF’s first page instead of the GIF.`

**Example:** [huggingface.co/papers/2609.05779](https://huggingface.co/papers/2609.05779) — there’s a GIF attached as media, but the listing card just shows a plain screenshot of the paper’s title/abstract page.

I’ve seen other papers in the feed with a proper image/animation as their card, so it seems like it should be possible — I just can’t figure out what triggers it. Is there:

- a specific step or setting during/after submission that enables the GIF as the thumbnail, or
- if GIFs aren’t picked up for the listing card, would uploading an **equivalent `.mp4`** work instead?

Any pointers on how to actually enable this would be great. Thanks!

Found the actual answer: a HF staffer confirmed in a similar thread that only videos are supported as paper covers in the Daily feed, GIFs aren’t picked up for the listing thumbnail even though they render fine on the paper’s own page.

Straight answer for the reply:

Confirmed by HF staff in an earlier thread, only video files work as the Daily listing cover, GIFs get accepted as media on the page itself but won’t be picked up as the thumbnail. So yes, uploading an mp4 instead should give you the proper card image. No special toggle needed beyond attaching the mp4 as media on the paper page.
