Crew – A multiplayer AI workspace for humans and agents, now with iOS apps

Brothers Jamel and Ali Hammoud released Crew, a multiplayer AI workspace for humans and agents, now available as iOS apps. The app, version 0.0.15, is downloadable for macOS and Windows from GitHub, and it enables local collaboration with shared agents, no accounts or servers, and supports multiple LLM CLIs. Crew includes features like split-view threads, ticket boards, and a browser panel with tools for code review, terminal, and file management.

My brother and I live apart, but still want to build things together.

We had the idea to build an app that allows us (and our agents) to collaborate on a project, we named it Crew.

Hopefully you'll notice that Crew is a little different: it was built with care and we had fun doing it.

It's our playground, where we can move incredibly fast and experiment with new and interesting ideas.

If this sounds interesting to you, you can try Crew out yourself (it's incredibly easy!):

  • Download either the MacOSorWindowsapp from GitHub - Launch the app, and give yourself a name

  • There's no accounts and no server, everything's local (except what you chose to share)

  • Choose a folder / repository

  • Decide if you'd like your Crew to be shared (in the folder) or local (in the app)

  • You can also join someone else's Crew using their join link (over LAN or proxied)

  • Connect your local LLM CLI(s) and @ an agent to start building!

  • Each agent uses its owner's signed-in CLI account, there's no API keys/pricing

  • Everyone in that Crew can see the usage limits of your LLM

  • Run several agents at once (even in the same thread!)

  • Split-view up to 10 active agent threads, across projects

  • Allow agents to split up work across "Helpers"

  • / commands for cool modes, like: /tickets

: gives your agent a ticket board to plan, communicate progress and ask questions (my favorite)/fallback

: choose which agent picks up the work if the current one fails (i.e. runs out of usage credits)/fork

: copy everything up to this point and continue in a new thread (potentially with a different agent)

  • Store memories in Crew, which your multi-provider agents share
  • Track token usage and estimated token cost

Browser is a multi-purpose right-panel that is home to:

Review: stage files, inspect changes, commit, pull, push, and stash work** Terminal**: full CLI access without leaving crew** Files**: a file explorer for your folder** Preview**: previewing files like images, videos, PDFs & HTML** Web**: browse the web** Music**: a way to listen to music together, in sync** Games**: we were bored, what else are you gonna do while you wait for your 20 threads to finish** Helpers**(when applicable): an overview of any Helpers that have been dispatched by the agent(s) in the thread** Plan**(when applicable): the plan outline generated by the agent(s) in the thread** Board**: the ticket board used by the agent(s) in the thread

crew open Crew here
crew ~/code/thing open Crew there
crew --share let people join your Crew
crew --join crew://host:port/code join someone's Crew

You can install the CLI through the app, in Settings under "This computer"

We're kinda curious how people will end up using Crew, feel free to email me at devjamel@gmail.com!
