Craft Anything points Claude Code at any website, app or game and rebuilds it for you

ArtCraft released Craft Anything on November 1, a free, open-source app that points Claude Code at any website, app or game and rebuilds a new version of it, two days after Anthropic added a line to Claude Code barring recreation of "a specific existing game, even if it is renamed or called original." The GitHub repository, posted October 31, had nearly 2,000 stars by Monday morning, and the app uses 314 inspection tools written in Rust to study a target, then has a coding agent build, check and refine the result up to six times. Anthropic technical staff member Addy Osmani said the Claude Code restriction exists because "Using Claude to infringe IP is against our usage policy," and ArtCraft's own notes say it should "confirm with Anthropic" that running people's Claude Code this way "is acceptable at scale" before launching a planned paid tier.

ArtCraft, the team behind the free PhotoCraft and FilmCraft apps, has released Craft Anything, a free, open-source app that studies any website, app or game and then has Claude Code build you a new version of it. It launched on November 1 with a pointed message for Anthropic, two days after Anthropic told Claude Code to stop recreating existing video games.

The code went up on GitHub on October 31 and had nearly 2,000 stars by Monday morning.

What is Craft Anything? #

You point Craft Anything at a target (a web address, an installed app, a game or a file), say what you want, such as “Recreate this website” or “Recreate this game’s gameplay in Rust”, and press Start. It then works in four steps:

  • Study: 314 inspection tools, written from scratch in Rust, look at the original’s pages at every screen width, its files and how it runs, and record the evidence behind each finding.
  • Build: a coding agent writes a new project in the language, framework or game engine you name, including Unity, Unreal and Godot for games.
  • Check: the result is compared with the original (websites at three screen widths), given a likeness score and refined, up to six times in the app.
  • Ready: you open, play or preview your version, or ask for changes.

An Advanced mode adds a full reverse-engineering workbench, and every tool also works as an MCP tool for other AI agents.

Does Craft Anything use Claude Code? #

Yes. Building needs a coding agent on your computer, and Claude Code is the one ArtCraft supports first. Craft Anything runs your own, unmodified copy, signed in to your own account, so every build counts against your own Claude plan, and usage limits apply. A Codex version exists but is untested.

ArtCraft’s notes on Claude Code argue this fits Anthropic’s terms, but say it should “confirm with Anthropic” that running people’s Claude Code this way “is acceptable at scale” before launching a planned paid tier.

Why ArtCraft is taking aim at Anthropic #

ArtCraft announced the app on X with this post, viewed about 127,000 times:

We believe that you should have the final say in what you do with your property, and not @AnthropicAI.

That's why we're dropping Craft Anything!

November 1, 2026 The post doesn’t say what Anthropic did. It came two days after Anthropic added a line to Claude Code telling Claude not to build “a recreation of a specific existing game, even if it is renamed or called original.” Addy Osmani, of Anthropic’s technical staff, said the reason was simple:

Using Claude to infringe IP is against our usage policy. Addy Osmani, Anthropic, on X

Craft Anything doesn’t strip that out. It adds its own instructions to Claude Code’s rather than replacing them, so Anthropic’s games line should still reach Claude, and some game rebuilds may be turned down. ArtCraft hasn’t said how often that happens, and Anthropic hasn’t commented on the app.

That depends on what you copy and what you do with it, and ArtCraft puts the responsibility on you: use it only on software “you own or are allowed to examine”. It has two modes:

  • Clean room (the default) reads nothing inside the original: no code, files or page source. It works from what a visitor can see: screenshots, text, layout, colours and fonts.
  • Deep reads everything, decompiling programs if needed, “for your private use”. For a game, after you tap “I have permission”, it can even reuse the original’s own art, sounds and maps from your installed copy, and the build is marked as one that “must not be shared or published.”

ArtCraft says the app never bypasses DRM, logins or anti-cheat, and the coding agent is told not to copy logos, photos, brand names or long passages of text unless you confirm you have the rights. Copying someone’s code, art or name can infringe copyright or trademarks; a layout or a game mechanic is much harder to protect.

How to download Craft Anything #

Craft Anything is free under the MIT or Apache 2.0 licences (ArtCraft’s name and raven icon excepted). The easiest route is the ArtCraft Launcher, which also installs the team’s Adobe and Office look-alikes. Standalone builds for Windows, macOS (Apple silicon and Intel), Linux and FreeBSD are on its GitHub releases page.

You also need Claude Code installed and signed in, which means a paid Claude plan or an API account. Expect rough edges: ArtCraft calls it early alpha.

Why it matters #

Craft Anything turns the “clone it with AI” trick that built ArtCraft’s own Adobe look-alikes into a button anyone can press. It also tests how far Anthropic’s rules reach once Claude Code becomes the engine inside someone else’s app.

Frequently asked questions #

What is Craft Anything?

Craft Anything is a free, open-source app from ArtCraft that studies a website, app, game or file with its own inspection tools, then has a coding agent such as Claude Code build a new version in the language or engine you choose, checking it against the original.

Is Craft Anything free?

Yes. The app is free and open source under the MIT or Apache 2.0 licences. Building with it uses your own Claude Code, so you need a paid Claude plan or an API account.

Does Craft Anything need Claude Code?

To build, yes for now. Claude Code is the coding agent ArtCraft supports first, and Craft Anything runs your own unmodified copy. A Codex adapter exists but is untested, and other AI models can only answer questions.

Can Craft Anything clone a video game?

It can rebuild a game’s gameplay in Unity, Unreal, Godot or a language you name. But since October 30, Claude Code tells Claude not to recreate a specific existing game, so Claude may turn some requests down.

Is it legal to clone a website with Craft Anything?

ArtCraft says to use it only on software you own or are allowed to examine. Its default Clean room mode copies only what a visitor can see, and the agent avoids logos, photos and text unless you confirm you have the rights.

Who made Craft Anything?

The ArtCraft team, led by developer Brandon Thomas, which also makes the free PhotoCraft, FilmCraft and other Crafting Apps. It released Craft Anything on November 1, 2026.
