CoinGecko API lands on API3’s AirnodeHub marketplace for AI agents CoinGecko's API went live on API3's AirnodeHub marketplace, letting AI agents request signed CoinGecko price, market-cap and on-chain wallet-balance data without human involvement, API3 announced on October 20, 2026, with CoinGecko amplifying the news on October 22. AirnodeHub, launched in early access on October 5, 2026 with around 36 data services, describes each service via OpenAPI specifications plus x-airnode metadata and supports agent protocols including MCP; calls are free during early access. API3 plans to move service providers onto their own Airnodes so providers keep the majority of the revenue their services generate, a transition the story describes as a plan rather than a completed rollout. Photo: Rostislav Uzunov / Pexels CoinGecko API lands on API3’s AirnodeHub marketplace for AI agents AI agents can now pull signed CoinGecko market data and wallet balances through API3's pay-per-request marketplace CoinGecko’s API is now live on AirnodeHub, the marketplace API3 built so AI agents can buy data without a human in the loop. Agents can now request market data and wallet information from CoinGecko and verify that the answers are genuine. API3 announced the integration on October 20, 2026. CoinGecko amplified the news two days later, on October 22, describing the listing as a source of verified market data and wallet details that agents can check. What AirnodeHub actually does API3 launched the platform in early access on October 5, 2026. It debuted with around 36 data services spanning market data, FX rates, news and weather updates. The defining feature is that every service describes itself in a standardized, machine-readable way. AirnodeHub uses OpenAPI specifications paired with what it calls x-airnode metadata, so an agent can figure out what a service offers without someone writing custom instructions first. The platform also supports agent protocols such as MCP. For now, calls are free while AirnodeHub remains in early access. Why CoinGecko’s data comes with a signature Through the new listing, agents can query CoinGecko for prices, market caps and on-chain wallet balances. Each response carries a cryptographic signature that attests to where the data came from. The news moving money, markets, and the world—before your day starts. Daily. Free. An oracle is the bridge that brings outside information, such as an asset price, into a blockchain or automated system. A first-party oracle means the data provider itself serves the data, rather than routing it through a chain of middlemen who could introduce errors or manipulation. The revenue model API3 is building toward API3 plans to move service providers onto their own Airnodes, the node software that lets a data provider serve its API directly. Under that arrangement, providers would keep the majority of the revenue their services generate. What this means For developers building AI agents that touch crypto, the immediate benefit is practical. They get a recognizable data source, standardized discovery, and proof of provenance in one place, currently at no cost during early access. Notably, neither the initial announcement nor CoinGecko’s post mentioned trading or any token-related activity. The focus stayed on data reliability and verification. Pricing hasn’t kicked in yet, so it’s unclear how agents and their operators will respond once requests stop being free. The transition to providers running their own nodes is still a plan, not a completed rollout. AirnodeHub started with around 36 services, and growth beyond that number will show whether providers see enough value to list. Disclosure: This article was edited by Diego Almada Lopez.
