What Coinbase Business added
Coinbase's official page and PYMNTS describe a broader merchant toolkit around the agent-payment capability:

CoinDesk also reported that Coinbase Developer Platform released an x402 SDK for adding payment acceptance to an API, MCP server, or web service. The protocol uses an HTTP payment request so software can identify a price, authorize a stablecoin transfer, and continue the request without navigating a human checkout page.
The same July release expanded Coinbase for Agents with live order information and conditional trading instructions expressed in natural language. Those trading features are separate from the merchant checkout, but together they show Coinbase building both sides of an agent transaction: software that can hold or direct funds and businesses that can accept them.
For ML engineers and platform teams, the practical question is not whether an agent can move USDC. Production deployments also need constrained spending authority, auditable wallet activity, service-side verification, fulfillment records, and controls for failed or disputed workflows.
