Why it matters #
Cognition is taking its coding agent into production operations, where observability vendors already sell incident tools. Whether Devin can connect diagnosis to a trusted, reviewable fix will determine if it earns a recurring place in the on-call stack.
Cognition, the company led by co-founder and CEO Scott Wu, launched Devin Oncall on October 15th, extending its coding agent into production incident response. The product investigates alerts and bug reports, traces potential causes through a customer's systems and code, and can prepare a fix for engineer review. Cognition says it was already handling thousands of production alerts a day before the launch.
