Codex is now ChatGPT Codex.

That’s the right move: Codex made sense as a standalone name for developers, but for everyone else it only added another layer. People already know and use ChatGPT, and then there was this separate Codex thing that was also from OpenAI but somehow lived on its own.

Anthropic has had this packaged more clearly with Claude: one main brand, with memorable model names inside it - Opus, Sonnet, Fable, Haiku. You don’t have to keep figuring out what’s the product, what’s the model, and what’s a separate tool.

OpenAI is now following a similar logic: ChatGPT becomes the name for the main user experience, while models get names like Sol / Terra / Luna. For normal people, that’s much easier to understand than a bunch of separate names all living their own lives.
