AUSTIN, Texas — Coder today announced the general availability of Coder Agents, giving regulated enterprises and government organizations a fully self-hosted, air-gap-capable option to deploy AI coding on infrastructure they control, using the models and tools they want.

Fully Self-Hosted, From Agent to Execution

Coder Agents extends Coder’s self-hosted development platform with a fully self-hosted AI coding experience, giving organizations control over where the agent runs, what it can access and which models it uses. Developers can use the models, MCP servers, skills and development tools that fit their needs, while platform and security teams can centrally govern those choices. Both the agent and execution environment remain on infrastructure controlled by the organization, including air-gapped environments.

Built for Production

Since launching in beta, Coder has focused on making Coder Agents production-ready. Improvements include greater agent durability, stabilized APIs for headless background work, deeper role-based access controls and auditing, and refinements informed by customers deploying the technology in real-world environments.

Beta usage also showed that Coder Agents is being used beyond the interactive coding experience. Nearly 70% of Coder Agents workloads were invoked through the API, signaling that agents are increasingly becoming infrastructure for automated development workflows.

Supporting Different Enterprise Deployment Models

Coder supports two approaches to enterprise AI coding. Agent Relay connects cloud-hosted coding agents such as Cursor to self-hosted Coder workspaces, giving organizations greater control over where those agents execute their work. Coder Agents takes that model further by bringing both the agent and execution onto self-hosted infrastructure. This gives organizations flexibility in deciding where different parts of the AI stack run based on regulations, internal security policies and air-gap requirements.

Commercially Available Today

Coder Agents is now commercially available as a fully supported enterprise offering. Coder will continue investing in safe deployment, operational simplicity, model flexibility and a native developer experience as customers deploy Coder Agents in production.
