Claude Opus 5 Lands on Amazon Bedrock — The Agentic Engineer #23

Anthropic's Claude Opus 5, the first 5th-generation Opus model, launched on Amazon Bedrock on July 24, claiming to match Fable 5 intelligence across agentic coding, knowledge work, visual understanding, and long-horizon tasks at Opus pricing. The model features Zero Data Retention by default and runs on Bedrock's next-generation inference engine with lower latency. A related paper (arxiv.org/abs/2607.21557) shows that training agents inside their deployment harnesses allows an 8B model to match much larger models on OSWorld and WebVoyager.
