China's active AI agents could grow from 4.95 million in 2026 to 197 million by 2030, a 151.2% compound annual growth rate, according to the 2026 China Artificial Intelligence Computing Power Development Assessment Report released on Sept. 21. The report projects global active agents will rise from 79.4 million in 2026 to 2.216 billion in 2030 as AI systems shift from content generation to multi-step reasoning, tool use and cross-system coordination. It also forecasts China's AI-computing market reaching $150.1 billion by 2030, four times its 2025 level, against a global market of $1.25 trillion.
