Chiefs coach Andy Reid responds to Travis Kelce ‘dad body’ worries

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid dismissed concerns about Travis Kelce's fitness, saying the tight end returned to training camp in good shape despite a viral AI-generated video showing him with a 'dad body.' Reid told NFL Network on Tuesday that Kelce 'looks the same to me that he's always looked' and has been 'playing like crazy.' The 36-year-old, who signed a one-year, $12 million deal in March, is coming off a down year with 851 yards and five touchdowns on 76 receptions.

Travis Kelce does not have a “dad body”, according to Andy Reid.

As the Chiefs returned to the field for training camp, a seemingly AI-generated video went viral showing an overweight Kelce.

With some fans starting to panic that their star tight end had lost himself while preparing for and then marrying Taylor Swift in early July, Reid, the Chiefs head coach, decided to clear the air.

“Well, [Kelce] came back in good shape. I know everybody’s out there saying he’s got the dad body and all this stuff, but he looks the same to me that he’s always looked,” Reid told NFL Network on Tuesday.

Reid said Kelce has been “playing like crazy” and has done “a nice job with everything” so far in training camp.

While the AI image attracted attention, actual photos of the 36-year-old appear to show him in fine form. “Because I saw the fake Travis Kelce beer gut AI practice video about 10 times this weekend … Here is what Travis Kelce looks like at Chiefs camp this morning,” Athletic reporter Jesse Newell wrote on X showing an unedited video of the tight end walking into practice on Monday.

The future Hall of Famer is coming off a down year, recording 851 yards and five touchdowns on 76 receptions, which caused him to consider retiring.

In March, the 13-year NFL veteran signed a one-year, $12 million deal with the Chiefs in March ending any thought he would retire.

Kelce said watching his now-wife Swift continue to work on her craft inspired him to tie up the cleats once again in 2026.

“He’s focused in and ready to go and I appreciate that,” Reid said, adding that Kelce has “been here 14 years and wants to be out there every snap.”

Kelce and Swift were married on July 3 in a star-studded ceremony inside Madison Square Garden that featured around 1,000 guests.

The date allowed Kelce to be ready to go for training camp as he and the Chiefs look to bounce back after missing the playoffs last season.
