{"slug": "chatgpt-sends-resistgate-more-visitors-than-social-media-does", "title": "ChatGPT Sends ResistGate More Visitors Than Social Media Does", "summary": "A developer's Google Analytics data for three Chrome extensions shows that AI assistants sent 12 new visitors to the ResistGate store page between January 1 and October 15, 2026, four times the three visitors sent by social media. The same developer's other two extensions, Amethyst and noted., received one AI-assistant visitor each over the same period, a gap the developer attributes to how clearly each extension is described in plain language on pages a model can read.", "body_md": "Every Chrome Web Store listing gets its own Google Analytics property. I exported the ones for my three extensions this week, mostly to find honest numbers for my homepage. What stood out had nothing to do with the homepage. AI assistants send ResistGate more store visitors than social media does.\n\nThese are new visitors to the ResistGate store page from January 1 to October 15, 2026, grouped by Google Analytics' default channels.\n\n| Channel | New visitors | \n|---|---|\n| Direct | 92 | \n| Organic search | 20 | \n| AI assistant | 12 | \n| Unassigned | 8 | \n| Organic social | 3 | \n| Referral | 2 | \n| **Total** | **137** | \n\n\"Direct\" means the visit arrived without a referrer. On a store page that covers people browsing inside the store, links opened from apps, and plenty I can't see.\n\nTwelve people found ResistGate's store page through ChatGPT, Gemini or another assistant. Social media sent three. In the last 30 days, chatgpt.com and Gemini are two of the three named sources in the store dashboard's traffic report.\n\nTwelve is a small number. It's still four times what social media sent.\n\n| Extension | Store-page visitors | From AI assistants | \n|---|---|---|\n| ResistGate | 137 | 12 | \n| Amethyst | 83 | 1 | \n| noted. | 46 | 1 | \n\nSame developer, same store, same months. One extension gets recommended and the other two barely show up.\n\nI can't see anyone's prompts, so this is a guess. The difference lines up with how clearly each extension is described, in plain words, on pages a model can read.\n\nIf you publish an extension, you can run the same check on yours.\n\nThe store titles come first, in the words from step 2:\n\n| Extension | Store title now | Draft | \n|---|---|---|\n| Amethyst | Local Attention Tracker | Website Time Tracker That Counts Only Active Time | \n| noted. | Browser Notes with AI | Side Panel Notes with AI Chat | \n\nTwelve visitors isn't a trend yet. I'll check again in three months and post the numbers either way.\n\nOriginally published on [my blog](https://www.orlandoascanio.com/notes/chatgpt-sends-resistgate-more-visitors-than-social-media).\n\nAI assistance disclosure: AI helped prepare this cross-post.
