OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a version of its AI assistant that has been customised for banks, investment firms and other companies in the financial sector. This platform combines financial datasets from different third parties with the reasoning capabilities of the GPT-6 Astra. This platform is built to support finance professionals with activities such as market analysis, financial modelling, and preparing client documents. According to OpenAI, this platform was developed based on inputs from multiple financial firms, including Morgan Stanley.
ChatGPT for Financial Services: Features and Availability
The new offering gives access to financial data available through services like Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase. The data library of the service includes earning calls transcript, financials of companies, corporate information, and information on private companies. Instead of mandating that financial organizations set up individual connections to each service, OpenAI integrates the data internally in its own infrastructure. This helps the teams to access the datasets offered by the service without any need to set up separate agreements or integrations.
Source citations are another important addition that is made in the service. Financial people can make use of these citations to validate information and follow the exact number or statement that was mentioned originally. For example, a banker analysing the adjusted EBITDA of a firm can use the platform to determine what is excluded in the computation. They can then use this information to evaluate the figure and its possible implications on the value of a business.

GPT-6 Astra provides the backbone of the platform's analysis capabilities. As per OpenAI, the model can analyse financial statements, tables, numerical data and accompanying notes to draw out conclusions. It can then use this information to deliver outputs such as documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
Furthermore, users can take advantage of the custom templates of the platform, enabling them to upload and manage Excel, Word and PowerPoint files. Financial teams can leverage these templates to create research reports, valuation models and pitchbooks while retaining their existing structure and design. ChatGPT for Financial Services is available to eligible financial institutions at present. OpenAI explained that by default, the data of its clients will not be used for training its AI models. Also, the firm mentioned that the data will be encrypted during the transmission and storage processes.
