If you’re trying to use AI tools today, you are likely experiencing problems. A widespread outage affecting thousands of users is ongoing across OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, Google’s Gemini, X's Grok, and other AI platforms.

As shown on [Downdetector](https://downdetector.com/status/openai/), outages affecting OpenAI services began around 10:30 a.m. ET, ramping up quickly over the past hour. The outage appears to be widespread, with the peak number of reports exceeding 36,000.

The OpenAI [status page](https://status.openai.com/) says it has applied a fix and is “monitoring the recovery” after 24 minutes of downtime across ChatGPT and Codex. One PCMag reporter who was experiencing issues says their service returned soon after the fix, but is now working slowly. OpenAI has yet to say what caused the outage.

Google Gemini saw a similar spike in reports around the same time, but Google has yet to acknowledge an outage. Another PCMag reporter found that any prompts entered into Gemini returned an error, although reports on Downdetector are significantly smaller, suggesting it isn't impacting all users.

Issues with Anthropic's Claude began earlier in the day with a small spike in reports at 8:30 a.m. ET before surging an hour later with more consistent issues. The first problem directly affected Claude Sonnet 5, while a second wave hit many more models, including Mythos/Fable 5.1 and Opus 5.

Anthropic [says](https://status.claude.com/) it has issued a fix for its issues, which is now rolling out to users. It says the currently affected models are restricted to Opus 5 and Opus 4.8, with recoveries happening across Fable models and Opus 4.6.

X’s AI platform, Grok, also appears to be down, alongside the smaller AI agent service Cursor, with both seeing spikes on Downdetector.

This is a remarkable outage to hit all of these services at once, especially since it doesn't seem to be affecting other businesses outside the AI space. It could be related to Cloudflare, which also appears to be [experiencing an outage](https://downdetector.com/status/cloudflare/), but we'll update this article with more information as we hear it.
