ByteDance Reportedly Forms New AI Data and Safety Department

ByteDance has formed a new top-level AI data and safety department, led by former TikTok executive Wang Yinglei, according to a report from IT Home. The unit, which grew out of a global data team established in 2023, will handle data sourcing, synthetic-data generation, data cleaning, and quality evaluation for ByteDance's foundation models, supporting products including TikTok, Dola, and Seed.
