Starting today, you can connect BirdyChat to your other work tools and to AI assistants. We're launching two things at once: a REST API for developers and teams, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) support that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT read and write in BirdyChat on your behalf.
Unlike personal messaging apps, BirdyChat is built for work and work rarely happens in one tool. These two additions let BirdyChat fit into the way your team already works.
The API: connect BirdyChat to your existing tools #
The new API lets you integrate your internal systems and favorite tools with BirdyChat. Some examples of what teams can build:
Weekly summaries. Connect an internal tool and automatically post a summary of last week's key results to your team chat every Monday morning.Project updates. Connect your project management tool and review updates directly in the relevant project chat.CRM automation. Connect your CRM so that every new deal automatically gets its own chat with the right people in it.Real-time alerts. Get notified in a team chat the moment something happens in a critical system.
The API is completely free to use, including for developers building AI chatbots.
MCP: let your AI assistant work for you #
Alongside the API, BirdyChat now supports MCP. This lets you connect AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT to your BirdyChat account, so they can read and write on your behalf.
Once connected, you can give your assistant instructions like:
✨
*"Summarize my conversation with Andy and tell me which questions are still unanswered."*🕵️♂️
*"Find the presentation Anna shared two weeks ago and give me a summary of it."*📆
*"Schedule a message in the main team chat for Monday at 9:00 reminding everyone about the quarterly review."*✅
"Archive all resolved customer support chats and snooze the ones waiting on a client reply until next Friday."
Built with developers in mind #
We wanted these tools to be genuinely pleasant to work with, so we handled the things you would otherwise have to build yourself:
AI agents work out of the box. Connecting an AI assistant to BirdyChat takes a few minutes and a single line of configuration.Documentation for humans and machines. Our API documentation is published in machine-readable formats that development tools can consume directly.A clean, modern architecture. The API includes request deduplication, real-time event streaming with three delivery options, and chat management (snoozing, archiving, moving) — features most other platforms don't offer in their APIs.
How we're using it #
Team BirdyChat has had the pleasure to build the first integrations with the new API and here's how our team is using it:
Metrics. We connected Mixpanel to send relevant metrics to our team chat every Monday.** Development. We connected App Store Connect API to get a message if our TestFlight builds are successful. Design. We built a bot that notifies our Product Designer of new comments in Figma. Reviews.**We built a cron job looks for new reviews on Play Store and sends them to the relevant team chat.
