Most meeting tools solve the same problem.
They record the call.
Generate a transcript.
Summarize what happened.
Maybe even create a few action items.
That's useful, but I've started wondering if we're solving the wrong problem.
The real challenge isn't documenting meetings. It's reducing the work that happens because of meetings.
Every discussion creates a chain of manual tasks.
Someone writes the notes.
Someone creates tickets.
Someone updates the project board.
Someone follows up with the team.
Someone remembers every decision.
None of that is particularly difficult. It's just repetitive.
So I started thinking about a different approach.
What if AI didn't wait for the meeting to end?
What if it joined the meeting as a participant?
Not to replace anyone.
Just to help.
Imagine an agent that can:
Join meetings automatically.
Understand the context before the call starts.
Listen to the discussion.
Answer questions when appropriate.
Capture decisions as they happen.
Create tasks immediately instead of afterward.
Share a summary before everyone leaves the call.
At that point, it's no longer just a meeting recorder.
It's a teammate.
I've been experimenting with this idea using AgentCall.dev, and it feels surprisingly different from traditional meeting assistants. Instead of thinking about transcripts, I find myself thinking about collaboration.
I think this is where meeting tools are headed.
Less focus on recording conversations.
More focus on participating in them.
