AI & ML)\n\n**Date:** 15 & 16 September 2026 (Tuesday & Wednesday) \n\n**Speaker:** Mr. Santhosh NC, Lead Infrastructure Consultant, Thoughtworks, Coimbatore\n\nSession 2 picked up right where we left off — going deeper into EC2, moving files between EC2 and S3, and then stepping into the world of serverless computing with AWS Lambda. Here's the full recap!\n\n**EC2: Connecting and Working with the Instance**\n\nWe continued exploring EC2 concepts and got hands-on with:\n\nOpening the EC2 directory through Git Bash\n\nConnecting to the EC2 instance using SSH\n\nWorking with AWS CLI commands, including checking the AWS CLI version\n\n**IAM Roles**\n\nWe learned what IAM (Identity and Access Management) roles are and why they matter for securely granting permissions to AWS resources. As a hands-on activity, we created our own IAM roles.\n\nMoving Data: Kaggle → EC2 → S3\n\nTo understand real-world data movement on AWS, we:\n\nDownloaded a Kaggle dataset directly into the EC2 instance\n\nTransferred the dataset from EC2 to S3\n\nThis gave us a practical feel for how data flows between compute and storage services on AWS.\n\nServerless Computing with AWS Lambda\n\nNext, we were introduced to serverless computing and event-driven architecture using AWS Lambda:\n\nCreated a Lambda function and understood how it runs code automatically without needing to provision or manage any servers\n\nSet up an S3 event trigger — so that whenever a file is uploaded to the S3 bucket, the Lambda function automatically gets triggered\n\n**Monitoring with CloudWatch Logs**\n\nFinally, we checked the latest trigger and execution details of our Lambda function using CloudWatch Logs, which helped us understand how to monitor and debug serverless workflows.\n\n**Gratitude Note**\n\nA huge thank you to our speaker, Mr. Santhosh NC, Lead Infrastructure Consultant at Thoughtworks, Coimbatore, for another insightful and hands-on session!
