Assistant artifacts (a la Anthropic Claude)

Allow the ai assistant to create artifacts just like in the Anthropic demos.

Recently tried claude artifacts after having used sonnet 3.5 through Kagi's Assistant. Artifacts truly level up the assistant experience. I hope to see this in Kagi.

The claude artifacts feature seems to be based on a system prompt:

Hi, Claude at claude.ai is able to produce artifacts, which are basically separate documents in various text-based formats.

I make use of it's ability to output SVG and then view it rendered. It can also generate an interactive JS simulation one can run and experiment with.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet has a live side-by-side preview feature to render HTML/JS. You can then chat with the result and ask Claude to modify it, and it will directly render it. This way, you can protoype frontends/websites super fast. It saves you from copying the contents to a local file and manually trying it out.

See Claude 3.5 Sonnet UI.

Claude Artifacts. Absolutely a game changer feature. I too hope to see this in Kagi

How similar was this to chatgpt canvas?
if so, nice little feature from chatgpt that I noticed was that any code block it outputs now has a "edit in canvas" option

An interesting thing about Canvas/artifact things:
The way that chatgpt canvas atleast works is this:

I'm really hoping this gets support for Python as well as HTML.

I quite like how Mistral's Le chat has this little ✨ button in the bottom right to make preset changes:

Interesting info about how the llm gets it system prompt about Canvas:

Something I really miss on Assistant is definitively code / canvas system. I wish to see what the AI tries to share to me in a visual way. Like I asked Claude 4 using Kagi Assistant to define some stylesheet for a website and, while the choice was really interesting, I wished I'd be able to see it live so I could interact with assistant in an easier way than having to apply it on my sandbox to be able to observe result.

From what I can tell, Assistant doesn't seem too far off from having artifacts right now. It can generate files in its sandbox and display them to users in a somewhat reasonable way (though there is definitely room for improvement).

The big thing that's missing for me is the ability to easily download/share those artifacts outside of the session. It also appears that the model itself loses access to generated files somehow, even after only one additional prompt.
