Ask HN: Would you play AI developed games? A Hacker News user asks whether people would play games developed with AI, noting that they have used frontier AI models to recreate simple mobile games without ads or microtransactions for personal use. The user speculates that AI could reduce game development costs and potentially eliminate monetization in simple mobile games, but doubts AI could impact the AAA market. I had children relatively recently so have gone into mobile games, and unfortunately every game I've tried is pretty much filled with ads and microtransactions - even ones that you can play entirely offline. With the frontier AI models I've been attempting to recreate some of these games and I've managed it with some of the simpler ones. I'm not going to release them and they're just for me with my preferences built into them but it got me thinking if there's possibly a "good" side to this, games without microtransactions and moneytization at every corner again because games don't cost as much to make? Again I'm just thinking simple mobile games here, I don't think AI generated games could touch the PC/A/AA/AAA market Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48865303 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48865303 Points: 2 Comments: 6
