The company aims to let non-engineers commit code while engineering remains responsible for shipping, but faces bottlenecks including unreliable ephemeral test environments, longer code reviews, and loss of Figma-to-code component linkage as design moves to Claude Design.", "body_md": "Our company is changing its Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Curious to hear from others what theirs looks like overall + bottlenecks. Ours:\n\n- 1 week planning/retro, 6 weeks implementation (basically six 1-week sprints).\n\n- Standup now mainly demoing what Engineering/Design is working on, getting quick feedback from teammates.\n\n- Meetings are recorded/transcribed. Agents generate Product Requirement + System Design docs from those meetings.\n\n- Push to have non-engineers be able to commit code, but engineering still responsible for shipping it.\n\nUnsolved issues/bottlenecks:\n\n- Ephemeral test environments (per PR test environments) aren't 100% reliable yet.\n\n- No longer doing capacity planning, but it feels like we need to go back to it.\n\n- Code reviews. They're longer and there's more of them. Even more with non-engineers being able to @Cursor on Slack.\n\n- Design used to have Figma as the source of truth; now that they're heavily leaning on Claude Design, we don't get the linkage of Figma components to code components. We might solve this by moving from Cursor to Claude Code.\n\nComments URL: [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49275494](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49275494)\n\nPoints: 2\n\n# Comments: 0", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ask-hn-what-s-your-team-s-sdlc-look-like-in-this-ai-world", "canonical_source": "https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49275494", "published_at": "2026-08-12 17:02:20+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-08-12 17:12:35.690867+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["developer-tools", "ai-tools", "generative-ai"], "entities": ["Hacker News", "Cursor", "Claude Design", "Claude Code", "Figma"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ask-hn-what-s-your-team-s-sdlc-look-like-in-this-ai-world", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ask-hn-what-s-your-team-s-sdlc-look-like-in-this-ai-world.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ask-hn-what-s-your-team-s-sdlc-look-like-in-this-ai-world.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ask-hn-what-s-your-team-s-sdlc-look-like-in-this-ai-world.jsonld"}}
