The Horizon Europe-funded ARCADIA project, coordinated by the GATE Institute in Bulgaria, will develop a modular AI-powered Toolbox to help researchers and innovation offices valorise publicly funded European research, with KU Leuven CiTiP co-leading legal, ethical and data-governance assessments to ensure alignment with the AI Act, GDPR and IP frameworks.

The project develops a modular, AI-powered Toolbox that guides researchers, knowledge valorisation intermediaries and innovation offices through the valorisation journey — opportunity discovery, strategic roadmapping, IP decision support and stakeholder engagement — supported by a FAIR-compliant Knowledge Base and validated across more than 100 real-world use cases. CiTiP will co-lead, together with FBK and VTT, the assessment of the legal, ethical and data-governance context underpinning the Toolbox, ensuring alignment with the AI Act, GDPR and IP frameworks; act as a permanent member of the project's Regulatory Intelligence & Ethics Task Force; develop legal, ethical and IP guidance for the Toolbox's IP decision-support module — CiTiP's main task within the project; and contribute to the synthesis of policy recommendations on emerging EU valorisation and innovation law.
