Korean beauty company APR said Tuesday it has obtained ISO/IEC 42001 certification for artificial intelligence management systems and the AI Trust Mark from Norwegian certification body Nemko.
APR said it is the first beauty company globally to obtain both certifications.
For ISO/IEC 42001 certification, APR established 46 AI management documents across seven layers covering its AI-based personalized care services. Individual departments are responsible for AI-related risks, while management oversees the companywide system linked to its ISO 9001 quality management system and Information Security Management System. The AI Trust Mark was awarded for the AI care mode of Medicube AGE-R’s Booster Pro X2. The feature analyzes users’ skin condition and accumulated usage history to recommend personalized care routines and stimulation levels.
The product’s hybrid structure does not rely on the output of a single AI model. Recommended intensity and treatment time are kept within predefined safety limits, while the system automatically switches to a rule-based process in the event of a system failure. The AI provides recommendations, while users make the final selections themselves.
The AI Trust Mark evaluates product reliability based on global AI regulations and risk-management guidelines, including the EU AI Act and the US National Institute of Standards and Technology’s AI Risk Management Framework. APR said the certifications cover both its companywide AI management system and the reliability of AI used in its products.
APR plans to continue applying AI technology to its beauty devices and expand personalized care features based on individual skin conditions and usage histories.
“Obtaining both certifications means that our AI management system have been evaluated against international standards,” an APR official said. “We will continue developing beauty tech services that combine convenience and innovation with safety, transparency and accountability.”
