Application reliability startup Temporal reportedly in talks for $500M funding round Temporal Technologies Inc., a developer tooling provider, is in talks to raise about $500 million in a funding round that could value the company at more than $12 billion, according to Bloomberg sources. This valuation would more than double its worth after its February funding round, reflecting continued revenue growth after the company reported more than 380% revenue growth in 2025. Temporal's platform helps applications recover from crashes, a capability particularly useful for AI agents, and counts OpenAI Group PBC and DoorDash Inc. among its customers. Application reliability startup Temporal reportedly in talks for $500M funding round Temporal Technologies Inc., a fast-growing developer tooling provider, is reportedly in talks to raise about $500 million from investors. Bloomberg on Tuesday cited https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-08-19/ai-startup-temporal-in-talks-for-a-valuation-of-at-least-12-billion sources as saying that the investment could value the company at more than $12 billion. That’s more than double what it was worth after its previous funding round in February. Many of the tasks that an enterprise application performs comprise multiple steps. If an application crashes midway into the workflow, it has to start everything from scratch. That can lead to hours of delays in some cases. Temporal offers an open-source platform that enables workloads to recover from crashes more efficiently. When an application starts a multi-step task, the platform activates and creates a chronological log of every action. If the application crashes, it can use the chronological log to identify the last action that it completed successfully and continue from there. That removes the need to start the task from scratch. The ability to avoid repeat work after crashes is particularly useful for artificial intelligence agents. Some agents are optimized to perform tasks that take weeks to complete. Temporal’s core component is a module called the Temporal Service. It breaks down the tasks performed by an application into their constituent steps and assigns each step to a separate program called a worker. According to the company, the Temporal Service can spin up thousands of workers at once. If a task requires more infrastructure to complete than expected, it may use hardware resources assigned to other workloads and degrade their performance. Temporal enables developers to avoid such issues by placing workloads in sandboxes called Namespaces. The sandboxes can’t access one another’s hardware. Additionally, developers can create set data retention rules and access permissions for each Namespace. Some companies require the ability to move data between workloads deployed in different Namespaces. According to Temporal, its platform eases the task with a module called Nexus. It automatically creates and manages the secure connections necessary to move data between isolated environments. Usually, setting up such connections requires developers to write custom code. Temporal monetizes its platform with a paid software-as-a-service edition Temporal Cloud. It features disaster recovery features not included in the open-source version. Additionally, an autoscaling mechanism removes the need to manually add hardware resources when traffic grows. Temporal Cloud is also faster than the open-source version. One of the contributors to its performance is a feature known as an append-only log. It enables workloads to write records to the database that underpins Temporal Cloud in bulk, which is faster than sending requests one at a time. At the time of its February funding round, Temporal disclosed that its revenue had grown by more than 380% in 2025. The fact the company’s new raise is expected to more than double its valuation suggests its sales momentum continued this year. Temporal counts OpenAI Group PBC, DoorDash Inc. and a long list of other tech firms among its customers.
