Anthropic is in advanced negotiations to acquire startup Decart AI for approximately $6 billion — its largest acquisition yet as it preps for an initial public offering (IPO).

Bloomberg and other news outlets caution that private negotiations remain ongoing and could still fall through without a final agreement, which would represent the artificial intelligence (AI) pioneer’s fifth corporate takeover of the year.

Representatives for both Anthropic and Decart declined to comment on the ongoing negotiations.

The aggressive dealmaking comes shortly after the maker of Claude confidentially submitted an S-1 registration filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in early June.

At the proposed $6 billion purchase price, the transaction represents a steep premium of roughly 50% over Decart’s valuation from May, when the startup raised $300 million in a funding round led by Radical Ventures co-founder Jordan Jacobs.

The investment valued the company at nearly $4 billion — up from $3.1 billion in August 2025 — and attracted an array of high-profile investors, including NVIDIA Corp., Adobe Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, Zeev Ventures, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, and e-commerce giant eBay Inc., which serves as both an investor and commercial client.

Founded in 2023 by Israeli engineers Dean Leitersdorf, Orian Leitersdorf, and Moshe Shalev, Decart has gained industry recognition for developing advanced world models, which generate real-time simulations designed to mirror physical environments. Its technology suite includes Lucy, a generative AI model that processes live video feeds to produce high-resolution representations for fashion e-commerce applications, and Oasis, an engine built to construct synthetic environments for training autonomous vehicles and robotics systems.

In addition to its video and simulation tools, Decart develops specialized infrastructure software aimed at improving chip hardware efficiency and dramatically reducing the immense financial costs required to train and run AI models.

Should the transaction close, Decart’s technical team is slated to join Anthropic’s dedicated inference and performance organization, helping the company squeeze more processing power out of its current computing infrastructure to satisfy rising user demand.

The strategic acquisition underscores Anthropic’s urgent drive to relieve severe infrastructure constraints as enterprise demand accelerates.

Top-tier AI developers are currently committing hundreds of billions of dollars to construct data centers and procure costly hardware — unprecedented operational expenses that threaten to weigh heavily on corporate profit margins as firms prepare for public listings.

To navigate these hardware bottlenecks, Anthropic has aggressively diversified its computing partnerships, agreeing to utilize Amazon Web Services’ custom Trainium chips, Google’s Tensor Processing Units, and SpaceX infrastructure.

Reports also indicate the company has engaged in discussions with Meta Platforms Inc. to lease up to $10 billion in computing capacity over two years while actively recruiting specialized engineers to co-design custom chips.
