Claude introduces a new blueprint that allows companies to quickly integrate AI agents into their e-commerce platform.
Anthropic is introducing a blueprint for retail companies to easily link AI agents built on Claude to the purchasing process. With the new blueprint, Claude aims to enable engineering teams to implement their own commerce agent within days, including all necessary patterns, integration points, and safeguards. “Organizations that have shopping agents on Claude see an increase in online basket size (35%) and completed purchases (60%),” according to Claude.
The solution is available immediately and offers live demos per sector. Claude is collaborating on this with partners such as Accenture, Mastercard, and Visa.
Personal shopping assistant #
The shopping agent is intended for integration into apps or websites and supports the entire purchasing process. Users can describe their requirements in natural language, after which the agent searches for, compares, and places relevant products in the shopping cart. The agent remembers customer preferences, displays product information and the shopping cart within the conversation, and can proceed directly to checkout.
In addition to building the shopping cart, the agent can also provide customer services. Questions about orders, returns, or refunds are answered directly in the conversation, without redirection to separate support pages. Claude provides safeguards so that only products and prices from the catalog are offered and avoids pushy sales techniques.
Merchant agent #
The merchant agent is aimed at merchants and staff. This agent can answer questions about sales performance, monitor inventory levels, and signal issues, such as products nearly out of stock before promotions. Additionally, the agent provides advice on pricing and promotions based on historical sales data and proposes marketing campaigns.
All recommendations from the merchant agent require approval from a staff member before going live, ensuring that control remains with the user. The agent also offers analytical dashboards and tools for catalog and inventory management.
