As demand for Claude rises among businesses, developers, and consumers, the firm will use the new infrastructure to expand capacity.
Anthropic is partnering with Macquarie Asset Management and GIC to build a dedicated data center infrastructure platform as the AI company’s demand for computing capacity accelerates.
The three parties will establish Theseus Infrastructure, which will develop, operate and lease purpose-built data centers to Anthropic under long-term contracts.
The initial development focus will be in the US, where the partners will identify new sites with Anthropic positioned as the anchor customer. Macquarie-managed funds and GIC will own Theseus Infrastructure and finance most of the equity required for individual projects.
The planned data centers are expected to involve substantial capital spending and create thousands of construction and permanent operational jobs. The facilities are intended to provide Anthropic with dedicated capacity as usage of its Claude AI systems continues to expand across businesses, developers and consumers.
Anthropic will also cover increases in electricity costs that could otherwise be passed on to consumers as a result of the new facilities. The commitment is part of measures the AI company announced earlier this year as it expands its infrastructure footprint.
The partnership combines Anthropic’s rapidly growing compute requirements with Macquarie’s expertise in digital infrastructure development and financing and GIC’s global infrastructure investment capabilities.
