The AI company is dissolving the line between chat and workspace, rolling out document and presentation tools to paid users first.
Anthropic just made its clearest play yet for the productivity software market. The company is launching Claude Docs and Claude Slides, two new tools that let users create, edit, and export documents and presentations directly through Claude’s chat interface.
Anthropic is merging its separate Claude Cowork mode and standard chat into a single unified experience it’s calling “one Claude.” Every productivity tool the platform offers, including the new launches, Artifacts, and Claude Design, is now accessible from any conversation.
What Docs and Slides actually do #
Claude Docs is a collaborative document creation tool baked into the chat experience. Users can draft, edit, and refine documents without leaving the conversation where they started brainstorming.
Claude Slides takes a similar approach for presentations. Users can build slide decks through natural language prompts, then present them directly within the interface or export them as PowerPoint or PDF files.
Both tools are rolling out in beta, initially available to users on Anthropic’s Pro and Max paid plans. Team and Enterprise plans are expected to get access afterward, with enterprise administrators retaining control over feature activation for their organizations.
The “one Claude” consolidation #
Until now, Claude users had to navigate between different modes depending on what they wanted to accomplish. Standard chat handled quick queries. Cowork mode handled more complex, multi-step productivity tasks. Claude Design, previewed back in April 2026, offered visual creation capabilities.

According to the company, Claude can now assess what a given task requires and surface the appropriate tools automatically. Ask it a quick question, and it behaves like a chatbot. Ask it to build a quarterly report with charts, and it pulls in the full productivity suite without you having to manually switch modes.
Because everything lives in a single conversation thread, Claude can maintain awareness across different task types. A research conversation can seamlessly become a document draft, which can then become a presentation, all without losing the thread of what was discussed earlier.
Building on Microsoft 365 and enterprise momentum #
Anthropic established deep integration add-ins for Microsoft 365 applications earlier in 2026, giving Claude access to the productivity suite that dominates corporate environments.
File creation and editing support first arrived in September 2025, marking Claude’s initial step beyond pure text generation. Claude Design followed in preview form in April 2026. The Docs and Slides launch represents the most complete version of that vision to date.
For enterprise administrators, the controlled rollout model offers a layer of governance that large organizations typically require before adopting new AI tools.
