The AI safety nonprofits around Anthropic promote an Anthropic-aligned Doomer narrative, whether Tarbell Fellows in popular media, or METR in evaluations. All rely on Moskovitz's Anthropic stock worth $7 billion, which the parent funding org sits on. This stock increases in value if Anthropic grows; many of these orgs claim independence from Anthropic, but none of them are, because of their funding lineage through Moskovitz's stock -- not to mention the frontier lab monoculture. The Anthropic-aligned nonprofits are journalistic and regulatory facades to promote AI Doomerism, which promotes bigger IPOs and regulatory capture, presumably by, e.g. METR, which Anthropic controls through its funding funnels. The more Anthropic succeeds, the more the AI Doom narrative expands through these orgs, because more money means more funding for AI Doom. It is an organically self-amplifying machine. Anthropic promotes the problem -- AI Doom -- and promotes itself as the solution -- AI Safety -- which means control of regulation by Anthropic. AI Doom is now deafening and will become louder the more financial success Anthropic has. China is more optimistic about AI than America because it doesn't have Anthropic. The system is structured as a self-amplifying regulatory capture machine. Anthropic couldn't stop itself, even if it wanted.
I have conducted an audit of Anthropic's finances. What I have found is so shocking that I am calling for a Congressional investigation. Anthropic is not just seeking regulatory capture. It has built a regulatory capture machine that cannot be turned off. Structural financial
