I’ve been hitting Fable 5’s usage wall for weeks now. The wall keeps moving before I ever reach the edge of it — and that pattern is more interesting than the model itself. #
Three weeks ago I wrote about pushing Claude Fable 5 hard and running into a real, hard capacity limit. At the time, I thought I was writing about a deadline. I wasn’t. I was writing about the first data point in a pattern that’s now repeated three times: Anthropic keeps moving this cutoff, at the last minute, in public, and nobody outside the company seems to know when it actually stops moving.
Here’s the timeline, plainly, because it’s worth seeing all at once rather than living through it one surprise at a time. Fable 5’s included access on paid plans was originally set to leave subscriptions on July 7. Hours before that deadline hit, Anthropic extended it to July 12. On July 12 — after that deadline had already technically passed for some users — it got extended again, to July 19.
