Anthropic CEO Calls for Slowdown in the AI Race

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI's leadership called for slowing the race to build the most powerful artificial intelligence, saying it must decelerate before it is too late, according to an NBC Sunday TODAY report aired Sept. 13, 2026. The appeal followed an Anthropic safety researcher quitting his job days earlier and warning that the people building the technology "earnestly believe it could kill us all by the end of the decade.
