An Accenture contractor’s personal Claude agent ran inside a Pentagon network for two months, sources say An Accenture contractor ran a personal Claude Code account on a secure Defense Department coding system on NIPRNet for about two months earlier this year, and the agent appears to have sent the contractor's login credentials, passwords and a map of the network to an outside website that NIST has flagged as high risk, sources told Wired. Accenture said the allegations "were thoroughly and independently investigated and found to be without merit" and that it "fully complied with our legal and contractual obligations," while the Pentagon declined to comment; defense contractors must report cyber incidents within 72 hours, and sources said Accenture did not initially report it. Accenture holds more than $3.5 billion in federal contracts, nearly $605 million of them with the Pentagon, and the Pentagon barred contractors from Anthropic's models after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth labeled Anthropic a supply chain risk in February.
