Hello there,

We released AmneziaWG v3 in response to a large-scale, coordinated attack from the Russian authorities that revealed a shift in how VPN infrastructure is detected and blocked.

Previous versions of AmneziaWG focused on obfuscating specific protocol signatures that could indicate a VPN connection. However, the way TSPU — Russia’s traffic-filtering system — operates has changed. We observed that it now analyzes connection behavior as a whole and tracks the destination IP addresses of traffic it identifies as potentially VPN-related.

The new protocol disguises not only specific parts of data packets or markers, but the overall traffic profile throughout the entire connection.

More about the protocol in our blog: [AmneziaWG 3.1 Bypasses AI-Based Blocking](https://m-b75ce44e5ba5-3w5hsuiikq-ez.a.run.app/blog/amneziawg-3-1-is-here)
